I have created an account in quickbooks that is the same as my checking account but labeled account returns - I can see the account when pulling down the main account for syncing setup - but in the return account set up the only account that comes up is discounts given

Hi Jim,

The “Discounts” account you have selected under the “choose a QB account to link with refunds” can actually be renamed in QB to “Discounts/Refunds Given”. this way, any discounts and refunds processed will be classified under that account (which is not a bank account, just a chart of account in QB.

For the “choose the default QuickBooks account to link with incoming deposits” you want to just choose the regular checking account where deposits go to, the second one without the “return” on the name.

I dont even have an option for the refunds tab, i created a new chart but i don’t know how to get anything to link with that. what am i doing wrong? I can set the income one with my bank account, but the refund says “no options”

Hi Anne!

Is your refunds given chart of account and line item set up as a “services” account?

Take a look at this article to make sure you have the refunds account set up correctly in QB. When it’s set up correctly, it should come up under “Choose a QuickBooks account to link with refunds*”. Come back here to let us know if you need any more help!
