Coming over from Dubsado - Help Needed

I’m helping one of my clients come over to HB from Dubsado. Is there a checklist? Best Practice article? anything that can help me do so? I’d like to not have to re-invent the wheel if there is an easy button from some things - like templates and migrating client info.

Any assistance is much appreciated!

Hi @Rene Kauder,

I’d make sure to take advantage of the Free File migration HoneyBook offers. There should be a prompt to submit the files after creating the HoneyBook account.

I’m a HoneyBook Pro and have done this many times, so here’s my advice:

  • Talk through it with the client and make notes as to anything they DON’T want transferred/anything new they want created
  • Start with branding in the settings! That way when you go to create any new files, the emails and files can be branded
  • Then do email templates
  • Then files - but note that the HoneyBook file will look differently than the Dubsado file. Each platform has their own way of designing forms, so it won’t be a perfect reflection of the original file
  • Then put it all together with the automations - These are MUCH different than Dubsado! There’s a big learning curve when it comes to these. Here’s an article about the different triggers and conditions in Automations 2.0. Some things that you could automate in Dubsado, you can’t in HoneyBook and vice versa
  • Then walk your client through it so they feel comfortable with the account!

Of course, depending on the client, there may be some other things to do (like adding team members, adding scheduler sessions, integrating tools, etc.), but for the most part, I use this pattern with my clients :)

Thank you so much @Kaitlyn Blair - this is really helpful. She signed up a while ago and I am assuming she might have missed the Free File Migration email. I’ll as her as that would be incredibly helpful!

@Rene Kauder you’re so welcome! I’m so glad it was helpful! I love the file migration! The only thing is usually they only offer it the first 3 days after they sign up, so unfortunately that might not be an option. But definitely something to keep in mind in the future if you ever do this for other clients!
