Someone please help because chat GPT is getting me no where.

I am trying to create a booking link to add to my website. I have tried everything it feels like and just as soon as I thought I had it … I didnt

I am trying to create a link attached to a button so when a client picks a package it takes them to a questionare with general info, a add on page, then payment. when I did this it makes me assign to a project and any email not on the project cant access the link despite the verification being turned off

@Justin Cruz - It sounds like the issue is that the Smart File is tied to a specific project, which means only the contacts assigned to that project can access it. That’s why anyone else trying to open the link is being blocked, even if email verification is turned off.

For something like a website booking button, you’ll want to send clients to a Lead Form instead of a project Smart File. Lead forms are designed for public links and can collect things like general info, questionnaires, scheduling, and even payment without requiring the client to already be in a project.

A common setup would be: Lead Form → questionnaire → package selection/add-ons → payment → project automatically created

Then you can take the lead form link and attach it to the button on your website so anyone can access it.

If you specifically want to use a Smart File, it would need to be sent after the project is created, which is why it works when tied to a project but not as a public booking link.

Hey Justin!

Thanks for reaching out - happy to help!

If I understand correctly, you have a button that takes someone to your lead form with your services listed. From there, a client will select services and submit. From there, you’d like them taken to another, separate page with a questionnaire and payment info. Are all these forms HoneyBook forms, or is your questionnaire and payment something else?

As for assigning it to a project, if I understand correctly, when you’re testing it and submit the lead form, you (on the back end) are being asked to assign it to a project - it’s not just starting a new project. Is that correct?

As for emails that aren’t on the project being able to open it, that is expected for security reasons. Could it be possible you’re sharing a link from somewhere other than the “Share” modal that pops up in your lead form? When a new client clicks the lead form link there shouldn’t be any verification needed!

I know that’s a lot of information and questions - let me know if I’ve misunderstood anything. We’ll figure it out!

Cheers,
Monica
