And just like that, we’re halfway through You Asked, We Built. This week we saw a lot of buzz 🐝 around one feature in particular…. The  Late Fees💰

Hop into the thread: Have you already implemented these for your business?

Let’s start by hearing from HoneyBook Pro, @Diana - The Finer Points, on how this feature will impact her business.

How is it NOT affecting our businesses?! This feature is 🔥. The days of separate invoicing a late fee is GONE. The additional reminders that a client is overdue with their payments invites a conversation with me so I can understand where they’re struggling at - gives me an opportunity to empathize and react in an engaging manner. And the 30 day deadline of the late fee puts pressure on the clients to pay me on time. Love love love this feature!

OBSESSED that we have this now! It’s helpful to so so many clients. Now if only we could see the # of days adjusted to be custom to each individual business!

Yes, I LOVE this feature! I adjusted my contract to include the specifics of this fee since it is now automated (I left it off before, not wanting the hassle of having to manually add it in every time.)

I also LOVE that you provided us with template language to add into our Contracts - AND MOST ESPECIALLY, that you made this a Smart Field. AND that you added the reminder to the bottom of all the payment emails - well done!

Agree with adding the customization for how long until they pay a late fee - for me, most clients have a monthly payment, so waiting 30 days sort of defeats the purpose. At that point they owe their next payment 😜

THIS! I give 5 days grace period, then a late fee is applied, so need to adjust accordingly

Super excited about this feature!

Echoing the other comments about adjusting the number of days before the late fees kick in.

This feature is great! The one thing I would love to have added is the ability for the late fee to accrue each month.

ie: overdue invoice by 5 months, the late fee is added per month the invoice is outstanding.

Yes, how can we vote for customization for the late fee?

I have a fee I charge after 10 days and then it accrues by a very small percentage if they continue to not pay. I have run into my first late payment and just now figured out that it isn’t possible to do this in Honeybook. Going to have to find a work around, let me know if anyone has a way to do this!

@Erin - Thanks for asking, you're definitely not alone in wanting more flexibility with late fee structures. As of now, HoneyBook doesn't offer automated or percentage-based late fees, but this would be a great feature to suggest directly to the team.

I'd recommend submitting this as a feature request in the Ideas section of the HoneyBook Community so they can track interest and consider it for future updates. The more users who speak up, the more likely it is to get prioritized!
