CST/CDT Time zone

I ran into some issues when my company was set up under “CDT/CST” but my mini sessions were under “CST” so my availability wasn’t lining up and was always an hour off of what was shown to the client (with many of them booking sessions at one time but the session actually being an hour earlier).

I chatted in with HB and we determined that was the issue (my company setting not being the same as my mini session settings) however this is super confusing and I am petitioning for just ONE time zone for Central time! It was today that I learned that “CDT” was even a thing. I have lived in Iowa for 35 years and have never used that term used. I can’t be the only one that has issues with not realizing there is a difference between the options in HB.

Please, please, please just have one option for Central time and make it “CST”. This is what we know it as!

Hey Marrissa!

Currently, the only places in the United States that don’t recognize Daylight Saving Time are Hawaii and Arizona. Since you’re in Iowa, from March 10, 2024 until Sunday, Nov 3, 2024, you are in Daylight Time (CDT). CST (not CST/CDT) should only be used for places that don’t recognize Daylight Saving Time, otherwise your time will be misaligned by an hour.

Starting November 3rd this year, the majority of the country, including Iowa, will be back to Standard Time (CST). Having your time zone set to CST/CDT will automatically account for the time change and all your sessions and calendar will automatically sync to the nationally recognized time change.

Here is a help center article on the topic! I’m also including a link here to a breakdown of the time change from the US Department of Commerce.

Hope this helps!

Hi Monica!

Thanks for your reply and I understand the difference between the two after chatting with the help team two months ago but that doesn’t mean that selecting between the two originally is any easier. I understand how time zones work and how DST works but having TWO options for us in the Central time zone is confusing.

Since all of the states in the Central time zone participate in daylight savings, I am telling the HB team that it would be easier and less confusing to just have the one option for us to select from so we don’t accidently choose the wrong one that won’t automatically switch us when the time comes.

If someone would like to talk about this further with me, please feel free to email or call me! Nobody in our time zone needs the other option!

I hope this helps! Thanks!
